Lesson Plan for Ninth and Tenth Visits

Objective: Today and next week, we will review and culminate what we have done all semester into a concise summary. Teacher and students will be able to implement the techniques that we explored during the semester into other educational contexts.
This lesson plan will span over two days (Dec. 4th and Dec. 11th).

Name of activity: Review
Grade: 1st Grade
Purpose of the lesson: To review what we have done all semester. Allow students to demonstrate the skills that they learned and developed through the semester’s activities.
Common Core Standard
      Drama: Standard 1.T.P.2: Demonstrate the ability to work effectively alone and cooperatively, with a partner or in an ensemble.
      Standard 1.T.P.4:Use body to communicate meaning through space, shape, energy, and gesture.
      Standard 1.T.R.2: Share personal responses about classroom dramatizations and performances.
Materials: 3 large pieces of paper to make lists on (large enough for all students to see)
Procedure:
      Day 1
      Have 3 large pieces of paper to write on.
      List these categories on the sheets: 5-Finger Retell, Nouns/Verbs/Adjectives, Opinions and Facts, Unity
      Combine Nouns/Verbs/Adjectives onto one paper and give the other two categories their own sheet
      Ask students to help list the activities that we’ve done all semester on the board according to the category (they will probably be able to give the game then will need help putting it where it goes).

      Help fill in any activities that were missed on the list
      Review any activities that the students do not remember
      If there is nothing to review, do one of the activities that could be cleaned up and practiced more (time permitting)

      Day 2
      Students will present their three favorite games or activities that they picked out and thought about during the week.
      We play those games.
      While playing the games, review the concept that was taught through that specific activity.
      The specific games that the class chose were Charades (5-Finger Retell), Cross the Room, and Crabs and Seagulls

      This time, we will do it a little differently. Everyone will start on the same side of the room. When I call out a statement and the student agrees with such a statement, they will use their bodies to demonstrate how much they agree with the statement in a way that they determine. (example: if they really like it, they go walk very tall and fast; if they like it but it’s not their favorite, they can walk slower and slouched).
      Statements:
      I like dogs.
      I like cats.
      Chocolate ice cream is the best.
      Vanilla ice cream is the best.
      I have a big family.
      I like Winter.
      I like Summer.
      I can tell Miss Adair each of the fingers of 5-Finger Retell.
      I can tell Miss Adair what a fact and an opinion are.
      I can tell Miss Adair what a noun, adjective, and verb are.
      I can tell Miss Adair what unity is.
      I use my big voice when I talk in front of my class so that everyone can hear me.
      My favorite color is blue.
      I like to play sports.
